Note
  • A counterfeit of the Aldine edition of 1501, but without the colophon and printer's device at end
  • Identified as a piracy of the Aldine edition by difference in setting of dedicatory letter; the two typographical mistakes in the dedicatory letter mentioned by Aldus in his Monitum, issued 16 March 1503 (third line "aggrssi" instead of "aggressi;" and 11th line "a" instead of "à"); different setting for the second line of verse in Ode 1: "o et praesidium et dulce decus meum," set on a single line and with the words "praesidium" and "meum" abbreviated; and three abbreviations in the dedicatory letter (6th line "enchiridiu" and 8th line "quoru" and "plena"). A later Lyon counterfeit edition corrects those errors; see Shaw
  • Place and date of printing from Shaw. Baudrier identifies printer as Balthazard de Gabiano, but Shaw disputes that attribution. The publishing endeavor may have been underwritten by Barthelemy Trot as financier; see Shaw, page 121
  • Signatures: a-s8 [$4 signed (-a1); s8 blank]
  • Text printed in italic type; spaces left for capitals, with guide letters. Shaw outlines the major distinguishing characteristics of the Lyonese "Aldine" italic type; see page 120
