First pocket ed. of a study by the Roman philosopher, Macrobius, of Cicero's Dream of Scipio, a dream-vision in which Publius Cornelius Scipio Aemilianus meets his adopted grandfather, Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus, hero of the Second Punic War. As the younger Scipio journeys through the spheres of the universe, he offers commentary on various topics, including cosmography, geography, time, interpretation of dreams, and Pythagorean thought. Eighteenth-century [?] ownership inscription, "Ex libris Sandwich Londini", of the [Fourth?] Earl of Sandwich on front free endpaper; bookplate of Harrison D. Horblit. Purchase, H.P. Kraus, 1984.
