Summary expansion
This geographical treatise, arranged in 40 chapters, was first printed in Basel in 1527.Basically an exposition of the Ptolemaic system, it includes an explanation of the author's system for covering the globe with a network of degrees, and develops a method for constructing gore-maps for use in making globes. The second half of the book contains physical descriptions of the countries of Europe, Africa and Asia, and in the final chapter, "De regionibus extra Ptolomaeum," there are references to the voyages of Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci
