The first canto narrates, among other things, the arrival of Carlo VIII in Italy, and the conquest of the kingdom of Naples; the second concerns the conquest of the duchy of Milan by Louis XII, the capture of Lodovico il Moro, and the affairs of Cesare Borgia; the fifth focuses on the battle of Giaradadda o Agnadello, the fourteenth on the arrival in Italy of Massimiliano I, the sacking, devastation, and departure from the country, the nineteenth on the battle of Pavia and the capture of Francesco I. The final canto concerns the siege, capture, and sacking of Rome and the siege and taking of Florence
