Summary
First ed. of an oration delivered by Galeazzo Brugora, Milanese patrician and legal scholar, during the opening of the final session of the Council of Trent, on behalf of Ferdinando d'Avalos, Marchese of Pescara, orator to King Philip II of Spain. Delivered at a point when the very continuation of the Council appeared to be in question, its tone of conciliation did much to bring the opposing factions together
