Biographical or historical data
Phil Bernays, a member of the Sierra Club for seventy years, served as a member of the Sierra Club Board of Directors from 1919-1953, as vice-president from 1928-1931 and 1946-1948, and as club president from 1931-1933. He is best remembered as a founding member and active participant and leader of the Angeles Chapter, the Sierra Club's first local chapter.
