Spec. Coll. copy: contemporary blind-stamped calf over beveled boards; remnants of three pairs of clasps. Fore-edge painting of author by Cesare Vecellio. Ornamental bookplate, printed in black and gold, on verso of upper board of Pierre Berès: "Livre no. 13 de la Bibliothèque Pillone. Pierre Berès;" below is the large armorial bookplate of Thomas Brooke F.S.A., of Armitage Bridge. Originally part of the collection formed by Odorico Pillone and his son Giorgio, who commissioned Cesare Vecellio to decorate the books; Berès purchased the decorated books in 1957 from Sir Humphrey Brooke, heir of Sir Thomas Brooke. For more information on the Pillone library, see A.R.A. Hobson, "The Pillone Library," in The book collector 7 (1958), 28-37. In modern brown leather and beige cloth clamshell case; gold-stamped spine title "Giles of Rome. In Aristotelis Analytica posteriora commentum. 1488." Purchase, Fiammetta Soave, 1990.
