Summary expansion
According to Green (see below), a new arrangement of the emblems was introduced with this edition of 1548, probably first created by Aneau. The entirely new wood engravings were used in many subsequent editions, in Latin, French, Spanish, and Italian, from 1548 to 1566. Mortimer (Harvard College Library. Catalogue of books and manuscripts. French 16th century books) points out that Eskrich expanded the scenes and added further detail. This book launched Bonhomme and Rouillé's highly successful collaboration of nearly two decades
