Note
  • A deluxe edition of the libretto, which is based on Virgil's Aeneid. Issued in a black and red cloth-covered clamshell box with title on a panel on spine. The front inside pocket of the clamshell box holds a compact disc in a pink paper envelope. Matching lavendar colored envelope rests in the back inside pocket of the clamshell box as well, but this envelope is empty to hold any other musical disc of the reader's choosing. Book structure is a continuous strip of handmade orange paper, folded accordion-style, with five varying and irregular-sized text pamphlets sewn into each of its five openings; illustrated with pulp paintings
  • The compact disc is published: [England] : Chandos, p1981 (CHAN 8306)
  • "300th anniversary publication, April 1989. The first edition of Nahum Tate's libretto ... was probably distributed to the audience at the 1st performance ... in April 1689. The present edition is not a facsimile but in substance follows the original printing. No music has been found for several dances and one chorus included in the libretto, so modern performances often use other music by Purcell to fill in these gaps"--Colophon, recto
  • "The text was prepared, typographically designed & handset in 16 Romanee Cursief by Michael Alpert at the Theodore Press in Bangor Maine. Printed at the Janus Press ... by Michael Alpert & Claire Van Vliet with Katie MacGregor and Bernie Vinzani ... Supplemental papers are MacGregor-Vinzani Abaca, Blush, Lear, and Brockport; Barcham Green Hayle and Windsor Repairing; Yanagi; and Twinrocker Sweet Butter. The book structure and box were designed by Claire Van Vliet. The book can be stood in a line or in a star-circle shape. Cutouts executed by Linda Wray. Boxes by Judi Conant"--Colophon, verso
  • "This co-publication of the Janus Press & the Theodore Press is limited to 150 copies"--Colophon, verso
