Square bookplate on front pastedown of George John Venables-Vernon, 5th Baron Vernon, scholar of Italian literature, especially Dante, featuring interlaced initials "WV" [in 1837 he exchanged his surname Venables-Vernon for that of Warren] surmounted by a coronet, within a frame containing the motto "Vernon. semper viret." In modern dark green leather and beige cloth clamshell case; gold-stamped spine title "Trissino. La poetica. 1529."
