  • Second edition of Piccolomini's dialogue on seduction between a young woman, Margarita, and an older woman, experienced in affairs of love, La Raffaella, under whose name this work is often known. Raffaella advises Margarita to make the most of her youth, and offers advice on the toilette, recipes for cosmetics, care of the hair, linen and hosiery, and household management. In the end, it becomes apparent that Raffaella is acting as a go-between for Aspasio, a young man who has fallen in love with Margarita. See Erdmann

Bookplate of A.A. Renouard, whose name is also stamped in gilt along lower edge of upper board. Ms. note in pencil below bookplate identifying binder as Padeloup, and former owners as Randon de Boisset and Crozat. Purchase, A. Sokol, 1985.
