Note
  • According to Bongi, the true imprint date is 1563, although at the time of printing, some title pages were printed with dates of 1564, 1565, and 1566, in anticipation of exhausting within four years what was probably a fairly large edition. In the resulting confusion about imprint dates, the two volumes of a set often had title pages with different dates: "Perciò, oltre la data del 1563, che fu la vera, se ne trovano copie cogli anni 1564, 1565, 1566; e siccome durante lo spaccio non si badava poi troppo a queste differenze, o col tempo se ne confusero gli esemplari, ne segue che spessissimo i volumi accoppiati non sono dello stesso anno"--Annali di Gabriel Giolito de' Ferrari, page 189
