Compilation of judicial decisions handed down in the Sacro Regio Consiglio di Napoli, a royal council or tribunal established by Alfonso I of Aragon around 1450 as a means of centralizing the administration of justice throughout his kingdom. The Consiglio, a general court of appeal from the lower courts of the realm, as well as from the Camera della Sommaria, was headed by the king (thus the term "Sacro"), and below him, a president, two "military" counselors to represent the nobility, a vice-prothonotary, and various learned doctors of law
