Coll. copy 1: black pebble-grain goatskin, morocco binding, dated 1785 by Nicolas-Denis Derome, known as Derome le jeune; blind fillets; gold-stamped spine title "Dante;" inner gilt dentelles; bright rose pink watered silk endpapers; all edges gilt; pink silk bookmark. Twentieth-century leather booklabel on front pastedown with monogram "RTB." In modern green cloth phase box, and matching green leather and green marbled paper slipcase; gold-stamped spine title "Dante. Divine comedy;" and "1515" at base of spine.
  • Copy 2: imperfect; leaf 1 wanting (leaf preceding text, with 2d Al dine device). Extra-illustrated: 2 leaves, bearing portraits of Pietro Vettori, bound in following leaf [2] (1st group). With marginal annotations throughout in the hand of Pietro Vettori. Eighteenth century red morocco, gilt tooled. Purchase, William Salloch, cat. 386, no. 28.
