Eighteenth-century light brown morocco binding; gilt fillets, with gilt corner thistle ornaments; elaborate gilt spine panels; gold-stamped spine title "Pomponii Mellae Ven. 1477"; inner gilt dentelles in floral pattern; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; green silk bookmark. Armorial bookplate of Charles W.G. Howard, including a note of the gift of the book from the Rt. Hon Sir David Dundas, Knt. of Ochtertyre, dated "MDCCCLXXVII"; and illustrated white-on-black bookplate of Otto Orren Fisher, featuring a world globe, caduceus, oil lamp, and six stars. Purchased at Swann book auction by A. Sokol, 1984.
