Note
  • Signatures: [dagger]6 A-Z4 Aa-Gg4 Hh6
  • Previously printed by Gabriel Giolito de' Ferrari in Venice in 1550
  • Woodcuts: the Giolito phoenix device on title page featuring the phoenix atop a flaming urn supported by two seated satyrs, modified by Dionigi Ramanzini with his initials "D.R." replacing the "G.G.F." of Giolito; but with the Giolito mottoes "Semper eadem" and "Vivo morte refecta mea;" another Giolito device on page [1] at end, featuring the phoenix facing left towards the sun, with Ramanzini's initials "D.R.V." on the winged orb; head- and tail-pieces; ornamental initials
  • Engravings: [2] plates containing engravings of both sides of a portrait medal by Giovanni Maria Pomedello of Villafranca di Verona (1478?-1537?), featuring Angela Brenzoni of Verona, wife of the Venetian senator Luca Busnato. Encircling a bust of the lady, the caption reads: "Angela Brenzona Veronensis Vx. ["uxor" i.e. "wife"] Lucae Bus. Ven.;" reverse side of medal contains figure of a dog holding a bone and looking up at a cherub holding a book, with caption "Ioanes Maria Pomedelus Vilafranco[rum] V[er]on. f[ecit]." The engraving reproduces Pomedello's strange apple device, and date of the medal, Sept. 27, 1524. For more detail, see Ritratti di alcune donne veronesi (Verona: Tip. Eredi Moroni Edit., 1826), pages 52-53 (available online through archive.org.)
  • Text printed in italic type
  • Ramanzini's dedication, in which he celebrates members of the Brenzoni family, is addressed to Alessandro Carlo Brenzoni of Verona, and dated Sept. 24, 1732
  • Includes index of names of the illustrious men included
