Spec. Coll. copy: newer brown pastepaper over vellum boards; gold-stamped red spine labels, one with title "Cesare. Commentarii" and the other with name of translator "Popoleschi" in manuscript; blue and red sprinkled edges. Ownership inkstamp on rectos of leaves c3 and g7 of "Biblioteca del Duca di Genova." Tipped in on front endleaf: unsigned manuscript note, but probably written by the former owner, Ferdinando di Savoia, duke of Genoa, dated Sept. 27, 1846 [in Turin?], describing how the marchese di Ayala, artillery officer of the kingdom of Naples, finding himself in Turin, expressed a desire to see this rare copy of the Italian translation of Caesar but was unable to, having had to leave to attend the Congress of Genova the previous evening, Sept. 26, 1846. Purchase, Hesketh & Ward, 1998.
