Note
  • "Objeto de arte realizado y pintado a mano con la ayuda de recolectores y jóvenes" -- P. 2 of cover
  • One of the "libros cartoneros" produced by Animita Cartonera, based in Santiago, Chile. Like the early non-profit community projects started in 2003 by Eloisa Cartonera of Buenos Aires, and in 2004 by Sarita Cartonera of Lima, Peru, Animita "cartoneros" are inexpensively-photocopied avant guard and experimental texts by well-known, as well as new, writers, living as well as deceased, bound in covers made from pieces of cardboard boxes scavenged from the garbage by "cartoneros", and hand-painted by them in unique designs. This collaborative effort of writers, artists, and "cartoneros" has made books affordable and accessible to more readers, popularized marginal literature, created new uses for discarded materials, and provided jobs for garbage scavengers
