Bound in 18th-century [?] tan calf boards; triple gilt fillets, and ornamental gilt corner-pieces; elaborate gilt spine panels, with gold-stamped spine title "Boetius De consalat. philosop. Colonia 1481;" marbled endpapers. Ms. pagination. Extensively annotated throughout in margins in two different 15th- and 16th-century hands; running-title supplied in ms. in a third early modern hand on first 96 leaves of text. Eighteenth-century [?] booklabel on front pastedown of Matthew Robson of Monkwearmouth. In dark green cloth clamshell box; gold-stamped black leather box label "Incunabulum. Boethius. De consolatione philosophiae. Cologne. Johann Keolhoff [sic], the Elder 1481."
