Note
  • Apparently printed by Paolo Manuzio in 1538, a troubled year for the press when no volumes were printed there. At that time, Paolo Manuzio had been in dispute with the Torresano brothers who he claimed were blocking his access to his father's italic types
  • Imprint from colophon
  • At head of title: Ciuili
  • Signatures: A-2N8
  • Woodcut: architectural title border, featuring cherubs on either side, and above, two crouching figures holding a large bowl of fruit. A variant t.p. for this ed. is described by Renouard, having a woodcut title border of entwined grapevines, with the castle tower device and initials "FT" of Federico Torresano in center of lower border
  • Printed in italic type; spaces left for capitals, with guide letters
Dimensions
16 cm (8vo)
