Kalthoeber in light brown calf, stamped in gilt and blind, with the Beckford crest in corners; inner gilt dentelles; green endpapers; red silk bookmark; Kalthoeber's binder's ticket on front pastedown; rebacked by Max Adjarian. Ownership inscription of B.T. Pouncy, dated July 31, 1778, stating that the book was presented to him by the author, Ducarel. From the Beckford library of William Beckford of Fonthill, author of "Vathek"; bought by Bernard Quaritch at Sotheby's sale June 30-July 13, 1882, of library of Alexander Hamilton, 10th Duke of Hamilton, Beckford's son-in-law; from the library formed by Hungerford, Lord Crewe of Crewe Hall, whose armorial bookplate, with motto "Sequor nec inferior", is affixed to front pastedown; ex-libris of C.K. Ogden.
