  • Cover title
  • Possible range of dates suggested by years that Basset operated from rue du Seine address. Maison Basset, founded at the end of the 18th century in Paris, was well-known for its fine color printing--especially "santini" or small pictures of saints,and maps--its artistic color illustrations noted for their depth and grace. Basset operated until 1865 when it was absorbed by the Bouasse-Lebel firm
  • "W" and "Y" are not included in the alphabet
  • Consists of 24 leaves folded accordian style; first single leaf affixed to verso of upper cover comprising front pastedown
  • Original binding of light salmon pink floral embossed paper boards; color illustration affixed to upper board, featuring a large green lizard and a brown and black kinkajou [?] encircling a stone tablet containing title; narrow embossed bronze metallic border of small raised circles
