Note
  • Imprint from colophon on p. [1] of third foliation sequence
  • This is the earliest dated book issued at Toscolano on Lake Garda ("apud Lacum Benacensem") by Alessandro Paganino, who had already printed at Venice (1513-1517) and Salo.̀
  • Signatures: aa8, A-Z8 AA-DD8, a-b8 chi8
  • Title page printed in red; first gathering printed in black and red; remainder of text printed in black, in small roman type; spaces left for capitals, with guide letters. Paganino was known for having introduced roman fonts with italic tendencies, and a minute italic, which resembles that used at Bologna by Francesco Griffio, who may have been its designer
  • Each of Special Collection's copies is slightly variant from the description in Nuovo: c.1 lacks the subtitle on the t.p.; in c.2, the N gathering has been completely reset in gothic type, with the foliation on those leaves (97-104) set in Arabic numerals.
