Coll. copy: three quarto text volumes bound in 18th-century polished calf, rebacked; triple gilt filets; gilt lozenges in spine panels; gold-stamped dark green leather spine label with title "Vancouver's Voyages. Vol. I[-III]. 1798;" red and green marbled endpapers; inner gilt dentelles. Armorial bookplate of George Wilbraham on front pastedown, with his motto "In portu quies;" illustrated bookplate on front endleaf of Robert Ernest Cowan, featuring the sailing ship "San Carlos 1769;" Cowan's library inkstamp in left margin of page [5] at beginning of volume 1 ("Cowan Library, 1936, 4 v."). Printed dealer description on front pastedown for this copy. The large folio atlas (shelved separately in "triple oversize" stacks) is bound in three-quarters calf and green marbled paper boards; gilt arms on upper board of Sir Simon R[ichard] B[rissett] Taylor, 2nd Baronet of Lysson Hall, Jamaica; his armorial bookplate on front pastedown, with his motto "Malgre le tort;" Cowan's "San Carlos" bookplate on front pastedown.
