- Consists of an illuminated leaf printed on both sides, from the original edition of the 42-line Gutenberg Bible printed in Mainz by Johann Gutenberg, between , 1454-1455. The leaf is from an imperfect copy which was broken up and distributed by Gabriel Wells
- The Gutenberg leaf in the UCLA copy is from the apocryphal book of Judith, chapter III, verses 9-15; chapter IV; and chapter V, verses 1-27
- Latin text in Black letter ("Gothic") type, 2 columns, on paper
- Rubricated: running title "IUDITH" ("DITH" on verso, "IU" on recto) in alternating red and blue letters; chapter numbers in red and blue ink; chapters IV and V each begin with a two-line letter in red and blue, respectively; capitals throughout text are touched in red
- Accompanied by three preliminary printed leaves (p. [3]-[8]) containing a bibliographical essay by A. Edward Newton, dated October 25, 1921 at Oak Knoll, Daylesford, Pennsylvania
